Effect of Combination of ¥â-Carotene and Myricetin on Antioxidant Enzyme System and ROS Generation in Murine Melanoma Cells.

Abstract
Flavonoids have been proposed to exert beneficial effects in multitude of disease state, including cancer, cardiovascular diseases, and neurodegenerative disorders. In the present study the synergistic effect of flavonoids and ¥â-carotene was investigated in endogenous CAT activity and regulate the reactive oxygen species (ROS) generation in B16F10 mouse melanoma cells. We also investigated the effect of antioxidant enzymes activity and ROS level. CAT activity was increased, by treatment of myricetin compared with control while SOD and GPx activities were decreased. ROS levels were decreased by treatment off-carotene and further decreased by co-treatment of ¥â-carotene and myricetin.
